The Bobby Curtis Championships honor Bobby Curtis , a true pioneer of USTA Florida whose leadership, passion, and vision shaped junior tennis across the state for more than four decades. Bobby was instrumental in establishing Florida as one of the strongest and most innovative junior development sections in the country.

This championship serves as the official USTA Florida pathway milestone for Green Ball athletes—an event that has launched many of Florida’s top juniors. Competing in a Bobby Curtis event connects players to the longest‑running and most prestigious junior tradition in the Florida Section , reflecting USTA Florida’s commitment to structured progression, sportsmanship, and long‑term player development.

Eligibility Requirements

Florida Section Membership — Players must be registered USTA members assigned to the Florida Section.

Age Requirement — Players must be 10 years old or younger on the final day of the tournament.

Ball Color Eligibility — Players must be Green Ball eligible or have completed Mission Complete status.

Selection Method — The first 32 players per division (Boys & Girls) will be selected strictly by date and time of registration , per USTA Florida policy.

Draw Format

32‑player Compass Draw for both Boys and Girls

Guaranteed multiple match opportunities in alignment with USTA Florida’s developmental philosophy

Match Format

Best 2 of 3 Short Sets to 4

Deciding Game at 3–3

10‑Point Tiebreak in lieu of a full third set

No‑Ad Scoring

Average match length: ~45 minutes

Awards

USTA Florida will provide awards for:

1st through 6th place

Consolation Winner & Finalist

Player Match Count Requirements

To meet USTA Florida’s minimum‑play standards:

Three matches on Saturday

At least one match on Sunday
