GENERAL TOURNAMENT INFO:
Teams and schedules will be posted by 9A Thursday. The TAO Intermountain Team Sectionals is a round-robin team event which is restricted to Intermountain residents only. A total of 16 boys and 16 girls will be selected for each division; 12's, 14's, 16's, 18's. Teams will be formed by a waterfall method to help ensure an equal distribution of players. There will be 8 teams of 4 in each division, composed of 2 boys & 2 girls per team. These teams will be further divided into two flights of 4 teams per division. Each flight will play their own round-robin, and then on Sunday the top team from Flight A will play the top team from Flight B, the 2nd place team from Flight A will play the 2nd place team from Flight B, the 3rd Place team from Flight A will play the 3rd place team from Flight B, etc. Each team match will consist of 2 boys singles matches, 2 girls singles matches, and 2 mixed doubles matches.
A voluntary team practice will be held the morning of the tournament. Although team coaches are not a part of this event, the #1 boy and girl on each team will act as the team captains. Team colors for this year's event are blue, yellow, pink, and green.
SELECTION: Selection for the Tao will be based on the Combined National Standing Lists published on November 4th, 2026
TAO L4 TEAMS : Teams will be determined using the waterfall method according to the WTN ratings published on Wednesday, Nov 25.
REQUESTS TO CHANGE DIVISIONS AFTER THE DEADLINE: Registration for the Tao is in one division only. If, after the deadline, you want to switch to a division other than the one you originally signed up for, you will be placed at the bottom of the alternate list of that division.

Will my junior get in?
No draw is full yet. Selection is by ranking list, so a junior with no ranking can still get in when a draw is not full, and goes on the alternate list when it is.
What is a Level 4?
USTA junior tournaments run from Level 7 (local, open to anyone) up to Level 1 (national). Lower number, stronger field, more points.
When do we know?
Selections post after entries close (Wed, Nov 4, 2:59pm PST). Draws usually post the week of the tournament. Text Coach Ace and we will tell you the moment either one lands.

• First night’s room and tax will be required when making reservation.
• Room Reservations operates on Pacific Time. Hours of operations are Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm; Saturday and Sunday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
• The cut-off date for room reservations is November 23 At the close of business on this date, all unsold rooms will return to inventory and the group rate will no longer be valid. After the cut-off date, please call Chris White, Sales Manager, at 702-636-7050 to see if any rooms are still available at the tournament rate.
TOURNAMENT CHECK-IN: A player pizza party / team check in will be held from 5-7PM on Thursday, Dec 3rd at Lorenzi Racket Club. Tournament Check-In is not mandatory. Players can check-in with their team either on Thurs, Dec 3rd from 5-7P at Lorenzi Racket Club or the first day of match play.
HOODIES : TAO Hoodies will be distributed at tournament check in on Thursday night between 5 & 7P at Lorenzi. If you can't make tournament check in, you can also pick up your hoodie at your site.

SCORING FORMAT :
BG12-18 -- 2 out of 3 sets, regular scoring, with a 10-point match tiebreak in lieu of the 3rd.
Doubles -- Standard 6 game set, regular scoring, 7-pt breaker at 6 all.
TOURNAMENT BALL : Diadem Premier
REST PERIODS BETWEEN MATCHES : The rest time between singles and doubles is a max of 60 minutes. The rest time from doubles to singles is the same as the time between sets in a singles match; i.e. two minutes.. The rest period between singles matches is 60 minutes. In the event that a match runs unusually long, players must request an extended rest period to have a match time changed. If no extended rest period is requested, the match time will remain as originally scheduled.
REST PERIOD - AUTHORIZED: In case of a split, there is a 3-minute break between the end of the 2nd set and the start of the 10-point match tiebreak. Players do not get a new can for a 10-point match tiebreak. This 3-minute rest period is an authorized rest period & players may receive coaching during that time.
WEATHER FORECAST : TBA.
WIND POLICY : While we are not expecting high winds during this event, please know that junior matches will not be cancelled due to wind, unless the wind poses a physical danger to the players, such as large flying objects. This is the USTA's wind policy for junior matches, which has been confirmed by the former Director of USTA’s Junior Competition.
RACQUET STRINGING & REPAIR FACILITIES: There is a full-service pro shop inside the Darling Tennis Center and stringing is available on site. There's a $25 charge for players who supply their own string. Stringing and tennis equipment is also available at Game-Set-Match, Inc. (4840 S. Fort Apache Rd #100, Las Vegas, 89147) and all Dick's Sporting Goods stores.

SPORTSMANSHIP AWARDS & THE USTA PLAYER OATH : Sportsmanship Awards will be given out to one boy and one girl in each age division. All participants shall familiarize themselves with The Code which is meant to be a guide to fair play. By participating in the tournament, all players agree to abide by the USTA Player Oath: "I recognize that tennis is a sport that places the responsibility for fair play on me. I promise to abide by the rules of the game, which require me to give the benefit of the doubt to my opponent. At all times I shall strive to compete with the true spirit of sportsmanship, recognizing that my behavior on the court is a direct reflection of my character. Whether my matches end with my victory or defeat, I promise to conduct myself in a way that honors my opponents, those who support me, and the game of tennis." LASTLY, GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP APPLIES NOT ONLY TO PLAYERS, BUT TO PARENTS, COACHES AND SPECTATORS ALIKE! Toward this end, a new rule has been implemented. If a parent, coach, or spectator is guilty of unsportsmanlike conduct, the player associated with that adult can be penalized for their misbehavior.
DRESS CODE : All players are required to wear appropriate tennis attire. Cut off shorts, bare midriffs (shirts that expose a player's midriff when they have their hands at their sides), and compression shorts alone are not allowed. Shirts and caps should not reference drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or sex.
OVERRULE POLICY : Once a player has been overruled a second time, they will be cautioned that after another overrule, they might be penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct under the Point Penalty System: point, game, default.
ELECTRONIC WEARABLES : The use of smartwatches or any electronic device that can receive electronic communication must be in off mode and in a bag unless on a break between the 2nd set and the 10 point match TB.
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PARENTS, COACHES & SPECTATORS:
A tournament tennis match is between the players on the court. No one else other than an official may go onto the court or become involved in any way in the match.
** Any person associated with a player has an obligation to encourage and maintain high standards of proper conduct, fair play, and good sportsmanship. He/she must avoid acts that may be considered detrimental to the game of tennis.
** No conversation is allowed between the players on the court and anyone other than an official. Parents, coaches and spectators may offer encouragement to their player, such as clapping or saying "Good shot." Advice such as "Move your feet", "Stay focused", or "Settle down", or speaking to your player in any language other than English, may be interpreted as coaching. The only exception to conversing with your player is to ask the score on a changeover. This must be done in a loud enough voice that no one would construe it as coaching.
• ** Applauding an opponent's double fault or unforced error is always inappropriate.
• ** Coaching is permitted during the three or ten-minute rest period after the second set, or during a rain delay when the official allows the players to leave the court.
** Coaching is not allowed during the warm-up, during the match, or during a suspension or interruption of play, except during an authorized rest period. Coaching is not permitted when a player takes a medical time-out, a toilet break, or seeks the assistance of an official. If a player accepts coaching at an unauthorized time, the player will be subject to the Point Penalty System.
** Only the players or an official may make a call during a match. No one else may become involved in making calls or settling disputes. Only the player may request the help of an official.
• ** An official may enter the playing area at any time, whether or not a request is made by any player.
• ** As stated in Friend at Court (FAC), a player may only leave the court area with the permission of an official. If an official cannot be found, a player may leave the court area to find an official.
** No person shall abuse any official or player. An official who observes such conduct may suspend play and warn the person to stop the offensive behavior. If the offensive behavior continues, the person may be asked to leave the area. If he/she refuses, the player may be penalized under the Point Penalty System, which could result in a default of the match.
** Your player's court is just one of many that you must be aware of when talking or cheering. Please be courteous to those playing matches on other courts.
Young people learn from watching adults. At the tournament site, it is your responsibility to set a good example for your player by modeling good sportsmanship, ethical behavior, and self-control at all times.

PRACTICE COURTS AT LORENZI FOR TOURNAMENT CHECK-IN : Practice courts at Lorenzi are available on Thurs, Dec 3 after 7P. The court reservation fee is $10 per hour. Please see Mark Saperstein on court 1 to reserve a court. A few courts may be available for practice prior to 7P.

TAO POINTS TABLE : The Point Table that will be used for the Tao L4 is the "Team Tournaments" Point Table for an L4 event. Please click on the following link to access that table: USTA Junior Tournaments Ranking System . Players will receive the same amount of points whether they are in Flight A or Flight B. Players in the #1 position will earn #1 points for their wins and players in the #2 position will earn #2 points for their wins. Each doubles teams will earn #1 position points for their wins. The five matches limit that's mentioned about counting toward a player's ranking points refers to team matches and not individual matches, so all singles & doubles match results will count from the TAO L4.
The tournament point table that's labeled "Flighted Level 4 Tournament" doesn't apply to this event, since those flights describe groups of players who are separated into higher and lower groups and who only compete against the players in that group, rather than teams that are equally weighted by a waterfall process and who compete against other teams.
