MATCH SCORING/DRAW SIZE - DOMINANT DUO
6 team Modified Feed-In Consolation. Losers in first and second rounds move into consolation.
In the Dominant Duo format, all matches will consist of one doubles match, followed by two simultaneous singles matches. In those singles matches, the higher ranked players from each team will play each other, and the lower ranked players from each team will play each other. A team must win 2 of the 3 matches in order to advance to the next round.
All Doubles matches will be one no-ad 8-game pro set, with a tiebreak played at 8 all. All singles matches are best of three no-ad tiebreak sets with a 10-point tiebreaker in lieu of a 3rd set. If a singles match splits sets, each player may come into the lobby or call their coach/parent to receive 3 minutes of coaching. 6 MFC. In the event that a draw only has 3 or 4 teams, a Round Robin will be used instead.
PLAYER SELECTION & SEEDING
This tournament will use the most recent USTA National Standing Lists for player selection and seeding. The 6 highest ranked teams will be selected for the draw.
POINTS PER ROUND
In USTA Midwest junior Dominant Duo team tournaments, players earn individual ranking points based on each match win (per individual singles and doubles win) rather than a traditional linear progression of rounds. Points scale according to the overall tournament level (such as Level 4 or Level 6) and the player's lineup position (1 or 2).
This tournament carries with it USTA Level 6 points per round. For more information on ranking points, please click the following link: more info . Questions parents ask
Will my junior get in?
No draw is full yet. Selection is by ranking list, so a junior with no ranking can still get in when a draw is not full, and goes on the alternate list when it is.
What is a Level 6?
The entry point of USTA junior tennis. One or two days, local, no ranking needed to enter, and every win earns ranking points. The right first tournament.
When do we know?
Selections post after entries close (Mon, Nov 23, 5:59pm EST). Draws usually post the week of the tournament. Text Coach Ace and we will tell you the moment either one lands.
