Players will be seeded for the tournament in the following order:

1 - All seeds done by WTN

DOUBLES SELECTION & SEEDING:

Teams will be selected for the tournament using the below process:

1.) Teams that are formed prior to the entry deadline and consist of two selected singles players will be selected for doubles during initial selections. All other teams will be UNPAIRED at this time (see below for additional instructions).

2.) All remaining players that are still interested in playing doubles will need to email the Tournament Director (contact information is found at the bottom of this page). If a player is requesting a specific partner, BOTH players must be copied on the request to the Tournament Director.

3.) Remaining doubles teams will be selected based on the following priority (each priority will be ordered by Combined NSL):

1 - two selected singles players

2 - one selected singles player and one alternate or doubles only player

3 - both alternate singles players or doubles only players

POINTS PER ROUND

This tournament carries with it USTA Level 4 points per round for singles and USTA Level 3 points per round for doubles. For more information on ranking points, please click the following link: more info

MATCH SCORING/DRAW SIZE

Feed-in consolation draw (through the Quaterfinals) for singles and single elimination draw for doubles. Semifinal losers will playoff for 3rd and 4th place. All singles matches are best of three tie-break sets with a 10-point tiebreaker in lieu of a 3rd set. Doubles will be an 8-game pro set with a 7-point tiebreaker played at 8 all. Doubles is No Ad Scoring. There is no 3/4 playoff for doubles.

ORDER OF PLAY

SATURDAY - 2 round of doubles, 2 rounds of main draw and 1 round of consolation singles. SUNDAY - 1 or 2 rounds of doubles, 2 rounds of main draw and 2 rounds of consolation singles. MONDAY - 1 round of doubles, 1 round of main draw, 2 rounds of consolation singles

TOURNAMENT FEES

1) If your credit card has been declined, the tournament director will be reaching out to you, and they will have the option to withdraw you from the competitors' list if you do not respond and communicate with them. 2) No refunds after player selection.

WRITTEN NOTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR WITHDRAWS

After play starts, any player coded as "Withdrawal" or "Walkover" on the draw sheet must submit written verification (email) regarding the reason for withdrawal. The player should provide a detailed description of the reason for withdrawal, and if the reason is not for INJURY, ILLNESS, PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCE (Referee shall determine validity and may reach out for additional details), or previously authorized entry into another tournament, the player is subject to the Suspension Point System ( Friend at Court pp. 114-119 ). Written verifications should be emailed to the Tournament Director and/or Referee no later than the last day of the tournament to be considered valid.

SITE LOCATION AND PRACTICE COURTS

Grand Rapids Racquet & Fitness will host all matches. The address is 4940 Plainfield Ave. NE Grand Rapids, Michigan 49525. (616-363-7769) We are an indoor facility with 8 courts.

Practice courts: (Fair practice policies are in effect to give every participant an equal ability to acquire warm-up court time.

Doubles: To be eligible to play doubles you must sign up for it prior to the tournament entry deadline. This is a Midwest rule.

Please note that while we will try to help you find a partner, the tournament will not place unconfirmed partners together. Therefore to play, you must confirm and submit a partner.

**Saturday: 7: 00 - 7:55 am * Morning warm-up courts are free for players . You do not need to call to reserve. (However, please make sure you coordinate with your warm-up or doubles partner.) Courts open at 6:45 and will be cleared for play at 7:55 a.m. Sorry players hitting only , no coach feeding, etc. unless space permits.

Doubles players with 8 am match: 7:00-7:55 am

Doubles teams with a bye: 8:00-8:45 am

Singles players not playing Doubles: 8:45- 9:25 am

Sunday: Free Practice courts will be set aside based upon player match times. Priority will be given to players based on Sunday match times. * Note, competitors have priority. Coaches and parents may be removed for players if space is required.

Monday- Free warm-up time for all players from 7:00- 8:00 am

If you want more court time than our facility can provide..... We suggest MVP Rockford. This organization will waive guest fees and offer fair court pricing for visiting national junior tournament participants.

Balls and awards

Wilson US Open balls will be used. Awards will be given to Singles- 1st to 4th main draw singles, FIC Co-Champions

Doubles Champion and Finalist. There is no douubles 3/4playoff.

Stringing

Stringing will be available throughout the weekend. However, we ask that you be prepared. Tournament staff will not be available on Friday to string large quantities of racquets.

Sportsmanship and the USTA Champion’s Pledge : All participants shall familiarize themselves with The Code which is meant to be a guide to fair play. By participating in the tournament, all players agree to abide by the USTA Champion’s Pledge: “I promise to: Compete with the true spirit of Sportsmanship; Have fun; Always give the benefit of the doubt to my opponent; Manage my emotions and be respectful to my opponent, tournament officials, and parents; Play to win with grace and lose with dignity; Invest time in knowing the rules; Obey the rules and respect the officials’ decisions; Never quit!”

Spectator Oath: All tournament guests, including family members, coaches, and other spectators, must adhere to the USTA Spectator Oath: “I pledge to set a positive example for players, treat fellow parents, coaches, and officials with respect, emphasize the importance of fair play and good sportsmanship, cheer respectfully for winner and good points - not errors and double faults, allow players to work out on-court disputes, and not interfere with matches.”
