PLAYER SELECTION & SEEDING

Player selection will be based on the most recent National Standings List (NSL) and seeding will be based on WTN. 32 pairs will be selected. Selections will be completed as follows:

1 - Teams paired at the time of registration deadline ordered by the highest combined NSL.

2 - Teams that are not selected will be SPLIT UP and ALL players will be listed individually on the alternate list by NSL.

3 - The draw is 32 teams.

WITHDRAWALS AND REPLACEMENT PARTNERS

If a selected player withdraws after entries close, the remaining partner must immediately contact the Tournament Director to make arrangements for some time to be determined by the Tournament Director to find a replacement partner. The time permitted will depend on the proximity to the start of the tournament and may as little as an hour or two. A replacement partner can be any eligible player so long as the new pairing does not invalidate seeding to be placed in the draw. Alternatively, the player can choose for the Tournament Director to pair them with the #1 alternate player. If the remaining player does not wish to play or find a replacement partner, the #1 and #2 alternate players shall be moved into the draw. If either the #1 or #2 alternate players does not wish to play, they will be withdrawn, and the Tournament Director will move down the alternate list. All withdrawals require written verification under USTA Regulations. Please submit written verification to this WITHDRAWAL FORM no later than the last day of the tournament to avoid receiving suspension points.

POINTS PER ROUND

MATCH SCORING/DRAW SIZE

32-Compass Dominant Duo. Players will have a singles and doubles match each round. All singles matches are best of three tie-break sets with a 10-point tiebreaker instead of a 3rd set. All doubles matches are 6-game pro sets with a 7-point tiebreaker played at 6 all. All matches singles and doubles will be No-Ad scoring.

ORDER OF PLAY

SATURDAY: 2 rounds of play

SUNDAY: 2 rounds of play

MONDAY: 1 round of play for all finals in each compass draw (East, West, North, South, 3/4 playoff, Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, and Southeast.)

THE FIRST ROUND OF PLAY EACH DAY OF THE DOMINANT DUO FORMAT WILL START WITH THE DOUBLES MATCH, THEN IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED ON THE SAME COURT WITH THE #1 SINGLES POSITION PER TEAM. WHEN THE SINGLES MATCH FINISHES THE # 2 POSITION MATCH WILL START ON THE SAME COURT AND PLAY. THE SECOND ROUND OF PLAY FOR THE DAY WILL STILL BE DOUBLES FIRST BUT #2 SINGLES WILL START FIRST FOLLOWED BY #1 SINGLES (As additional courts become available at your site after your doubles match both singles matches may go on at the same time).

TOURNAMENT FEES

1) If your credit card has been declined, the tournament director will be reaching out to you, and they will have the option to withdraw you from the competitors' list if you do not respond and communicate with them. 2) No refunds after player selection.

WRITTEN NOTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR WITHDRAWS

After play starts, any player coded as "Withdrawal" or "Walkover" on the draw sheet must submit written verification (email) regarding the reason for withdrawal. The player should provide a detailed description of the reason for withdrawal, and if the reason is not for INJURY, ILLNESS, PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCE (Referee shall determine validity and may reach out for additional details), or previously authorized entry into another tournament, the player is subject to the Suspension Point System ( Friend at Court pp. 114-119 ). Written verifications should be emailed to the Tournament Director and/or Referee no later than the last day of the tournament to be considered valid.

Dear Parent, the dominant duo format is perhaps the most fun for the players but also the most challenging to run using complete sets. GR Racquet will use a massive number of outdoor courts to offer players a great experience.

With events of this kind, we caution parents about bringing more than 1 player unless the pair are partners. Even players who are in the same age group, may not play at the same site. As an improvement from other events of this type, doubles will be played first. A ten-minute rest period will be then given. Both players will then play singles next to each other to keep the feel of a team event. By not playing all matches on a single court, we are able to decrease down time for all players at the site while maximizing rest.

In the event of rain, Midwest will decide if an altered format is used or if consolation rounds are played. While we will do our best to play the full event, it is unrealistic to play a significant portion of matches inside based on the sheer number of courts required.

Match oddities : In a compass team event, strange things can happen that could give a player or a team a walkover or bye.

1. If a player is injured, the player's partner can continue to play their matches even though 1 player is out or cannot play singles. A player cannot be added to a team after a match is played, nor can a player change their assigned "1 or 2" status.
