Welcome To GR Racquet Tournament Events:
All of our tournaments feature Zenniz Electronic Line Calling . This technology allows players to challenge calls made against them, fostering highly competitive matches and ensuring the ultimate in fair play. All tournament matches are live-streamed free of charge on YouTube . Search you tube for our page @grandRapidsTennis For players seeking in-depth review, video recordings of matches and detailed analytical data are available for an additional fee.
Our event can handle 100 total players across all age divisions. In some of the larger divisions the draws may be split so that all players may compete. Divisions that reach 16 player fields will be full 2 of three sets with a match tiebreak for the third set.
PLAYER SELECTION & SEEDING:
This tournament will use the National Standings List (Rankings) for Selections and for Seeding (top down).

Western Michigan Level 6 Tournaments may opt to issue wild cards, with the tournament director having sole discretion. This is done to encourage participation from clubs, areas, or our district. Awarded wild cards must be publicly posted after the draw is conducted. The maximum number of wildcards allowed per division is 1.

STARTING TIMES & DRAWS:
The starting times and draws will be posted at a minimum of 2 days ahead of the first day of the tournament. Please do not ask for late starting times.
POINTS PER ROUND:
This tournament carries with it USTA Level 6 points per round:
Main Draw Win = 20 Points
Round Robin Win = 20 Points
Consolation Win = 10 Points
Champion Points = 15 Points
Finalist/Runner Up Points = 10 Points

MATCH SCORING/DRAW SIZE:
Match Scoring and Draw Format are dependent on the number of players in each division. The goal of the tournament is to have 4 matches scheduled for the winner of each division.
The match scoring could be:
1. 2 out of 3 short sets with a tiebreaker to 7 points
2. 2 out of 3 full sets with a 10 point tiebreaker.
The short set and full set option also counts fully for WTN. If a tournament uses short sets, all players will be scheduled to play at least 3 matches. If a tournament uses full sets, all players are scheduled for a minimum of 2 matches. The draw format could be Round Robin, Round Robin with Playoff, Compass Draw, or Modified Feed-In. These may change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances during a tournament.
CHECKING-IN:
Players must check-in before each match no later than their match time (not just their first match). Players need to be ready to play when they check-in as they could start play at any time after checking-in. Also both players should report the scores for each match immediately after the match.

Will my junior get in?
No draw is full yet. Selection is by ranking list, so a junior with no ranking can still get in when a draw is not full, and goes on the alternate list when it is.
What is a Level 6?
The entry point of USTA junior tennis. One or two days, local, no ranking needed to enter, and every win earns ranking points. The right first tournament.
When do we know?

Draws will be released Thursday morning with all match times.
* Matches cannot be moved, or rescheduled because of road issues or driving time. If you live a great distance away, start early and plan for traffic. We want you to be safe and if you need to withdraw by defaulting a match; be considerate of opponents and do so well in advance. No refunds for defaults are issued. Withdrawals after event selection are reflected in the draw.
Practice Courts:
Indoor Practice Courts: Saturday practice courts are available free on a first come first serve basis at 7:00 am. Courts will be cleared for matches at 7:55. No practice courts are available after play begins. Players are expected to share. 4 players per court Parents or coaches may be removed by tournament officials to allow all players a warmup opportunity .

DRAW FORMAT & SIZE:

If a tournament uses short sets, most players will be scheduled to play at least 3 matches. If a tournament uses full sets, all players are scheduled for a minimum of 2 matches. Rest Periods:
Players involved in short sets receive a maximum of 30 minutes between matches. Full-format matches are entitled to 1 hour rest period.
Parental & Spectator Conduct Policy:
To promote an enjoyable and fair experience for all participants, USTA Midwest has implemented a “ZERO TOLERANCE” policy on improper behaviors. Players can be coded for any improper action by their parents and coaches.

Stringing
Stringing will be available throughout the weekend. However, we ask that you be prepared. Tournament staff will not be available on Friday to string large quantities of racquets.
Sportsmanship and the USTA Champion’s Pledge : All participants shall familiarize themselves with The Code which is meant to be a guide to fair play. By participating in the tournament, all players agree to abide by the USTA Champion’s Pledge: “I promise to: Compete with the true spirit of Sportsmanship; Have fun; Always give the benefit of the doubt to my opponent; Manage my emotions and be respectful to my opponent, tournament officials, and parents; Play to win with grace and lose with dignity; Invest time in knowing the rules; Obey the rules and respect the officials’ decisions; Never quit!”
Spectator Oath: All tournament guests, including family members, coaches, and other spectators, must adhere to the USTA Spectator Oath: “I pledge to set a positive example for players, treat fellow parents, coaches, and officials with respect, emphasize the importance of fair play and good sportsmanship, cheer respectfully for winner and good points - not errors and double faults, allow players to work out on-court disputes, and not interfere with matches.”
