Gopher Football Home Game on November 28th
There is a home Gopher Football game scheduled for Saturday, November 28th. There is no way to avoid playing matches on Saturday during gameday. The commute to campus will be difficult starting at 12 pm. Parking around the tennis center will be nearly impossible from early morning to 6 pm, and when available, at increased rates. Players/parents are encouraged to give themselves extra time on their commute to the tennis center in addition to opting to drop players off at the front door on 4th St SE to find parking elsewhere on campus and surrounding neighborhoods, and walk a longer distance. Players are encouraged to commute by car service (Uber/Lyft/Taxi).

Will my junior get in?
No draw is full yet. Selection is by ranking list, so a junior with no ranking can still get in when a draw is not full, and goes on the alternate list when it is.
What is a Level 1?
USTA junior tournaments run from Level 7 (local, open to anyone) up to Level 1 (national). Lower number, stronger field, more points.
When do we know?
Selections post after entries close (Thu, Oct 29, 10:59am CDT). Draws usually post the week of the tournament. Text Coach Ace and we will tell you the moment either one lands.

Before the Start of the Tournament
Practice courts for Wednesday, November 25th, and Thursday, November 26th, are now available. Reservations can be made by calling the front desk at 612-625-1433. Courts will be available between 8 am - 7:30 pm.
The front desk will need a full name, phone number, email address, and payment card information to confirm the reservation. Please have this information available. Full payment is due at the time of booking.
Our Indoor court rate is $38 per hour + tax. As a reminder, practice courts Friday-Monday will be assigned by me, one day before each competition day. Please note that all practice times will occur prior to the first matches that day.
After the Start of the Tournament
Practice courts Friday-Monday, will be assigned by the tournament director. No other practice courts will be available during the tournament. Players will be assigned at least half a court with their doubles partner or other unpaired player. Players are expected to help warm up their fellow competitors.
9. STRINGING
A stringer will always be on-site during the tournament. We are able to turn around any racquet within 24 hours. If players provide their own string, we charge only $21 per racquet. 11. ON-SITE ALTERNATES
PLEASE REPORT TO THE TOURNAMENT DESK 30 MINUTES BEFORE THE FIRST MATCH IN YOUR DIVISION .
If a spot becomes available, alternates will be selected based on their position on the posted alternate list.
Unfortunately, tournament directors are not able to see who has submitted the waiver and who has not. Thus, I need your help to confirm you've completed the waiver by directly forwarding the confirmation email you receive upon completion to the tournament director's email at ozcel006@umn.edu

PURCHASING MATCH FOOTAGE AND LIVE STREAMING

Match footage can also be purchased for $20 per match if they play on one of the front 6 courts. The request can be made at the tournament desk. We will need to have the match start time available and will share it electronically.
All-Day Fueling Station
An all-day-long fueling station will be available to players. This will consist of bagels and orange juice in the morning and fruit, yogurt, granola bars, etc. throughout the day for all of the event days.
ELC Protocols - USTA Tournaments
• Number of Challenges • 3 incorrect challenges per set/player, additional one for tiebreak at 6-6
• 3 for 10pt tiebreak • If a player/team is successful in their challenge, the player/team will not lose one of their challenges
• Challenges do not carry over from one set to another
• Code Violations • An Official should consider cautioning a player/team if there have been two overrules (successful challenges) against a player/team..
• Once a player/team has two overrules in the system OR overrule markers the players must notify a roving official.
• Once an Official cautions a player that subsequent overrules will be penalized under the Point Penalty System, the Official must penalize subsequent overrules.
• If the ELC system cannot track overrules, then colored markers must be used on each court to count overrules (successful challenges) against a player. For example, If “Player A” successfully challenges “Player B” then “Player B” will have a marker placed on their side.
• Players are responsible for tracking the markers if the system cannot.
• Overrule • If player/team is overruled by an official (or the system), player/team loses the point
• Can an Official's overrule be challenged? • Yes, an official’s overrule can be challenged if the player has challenges remaining.
• The Electronic systems decision is final and not appealable.
• See the above section regarding code violations to overrules.
• Determine System Malfunction • The Referee determines if the use of the system shall be discontinued for a match
• System Unavailable • In an instance where the system is unavailable, the original call will stand and the player/team will not lose one of their challenges.
• Once the system is back online the players/team can use the system.
• Challenges • A player/team may challenge any fault or out call made by their opponent if they have challenges remaining.
• A player/team may challenge any overrule by an official if they have challenges remaining.
• System may not be used to verify calls, if a call cannot be made, it is considered in.
• Balls called out due to hitting a permanent fixture cannot be challenged.
• Challenge Denials • An official cannot initiate a challenge.
• Challenges shouldn’t be arbitrarily initiated • Officials may deny challenges if they feel a player/team is attempting to delay the game or for gamesmanship/unsportsmanship behavior
• People associated with players may not request challenges, this is considered coaching and can be penalized under the point penalty system (coaches, parents, teammates, etc).
USTA Eligibility Information: In order to participate in this event, the player must meet the USTA Eligibility requirements that are listed here .
Player Entry and Selection Procedure: The USTA National Championships permit a player to enter more than one age division. However, it is important to understand the consequences of this decision. If you want to play in a USTA National Championship, but are unsure if you will get in, you may enter up to two different age divisions. When selection is done, players are considered for the oldest age division first.
If a player is selected into the older age division entered, the player will not be selected into the younger age division.
If a player is not selected into the older age division, the player will only be considered for selection into the younger division.
If the player is not selected into either age division, the player will only be eligible to be an alternate in the younger division.
Players shall be selected into the singles main draw in the following order:
National Standings List: 33 players in the order in which their names appear on the most recently published National Standings List (October 29th Publication)
Sectional Quota: 27 total players within Sectional Associations’ quotas. Players not previously selected who are on the Section Quota Lists and within the quota shall be accepted. A Sectional Association’s quota is never reduced because of players selected into the draw by any other method.
Wild cards: As soon as practicable after the deadline for accepting wild card applications, the Wild Card Committee shall award no more than 4 wild cards. CLICK HERE to apply for a wildcard.
Concurrent Entry Policy for IMG Academy International Championships: The IMG Academy International Championships and The USTA National Indoor Championships have overlapping dates which makes them concurrent events. Players are permitted to register for both events (permission from both Tournament Directors is not required), but players may NOT participate in both events. For more information on the USTA's concurrent entry policy, please refer to USTA Regulation IV.C.12 .
Players who registered for and are selected for both tournaments (qualifying or main draw) must notify the Tournament Committees of which tournament they would like to participate in by November 17th . Players who withdraw from one event to participate in the other after the date of November 17th , or who apply for and receive wildcards for one of the events and then subsequently withdraw from the other will be assessed suspension points for withdrawing to play in another tournament. Players may not participate in both events.
Sportsmanship and the USTA Champion’s Pledge : All participants shall familiarize themselves with The Code which is meant to be a guide to fair play. By participating in the tournament, all players agree to abide by the USTA Champion’s Pledge: “I promise to: Compete with the true spirit of Sportsmanship; Have fun; Always give the benefit of the doubt to my opponent; Manage my emotions and be respectful to my opponent, tournament officials and parents; Play to win with grace and lose with dignity; Invest time in knowing the rules; Obey the rules and respect the officials’ decisions; Never quit!”
Spectator Oath: All tournament guests, including family members, coaches and other spectators, must adhere to the USTA Spectator Oath: “I pledge to set a positive example for players, treat fellow parents, coaches and officials with respect, emphasize the importance of fair play and good sportsmanship, cheer respectfully for winner and good points - not errors and double faults, allow players to work out on-court disputes, and not interfere with matches.”

Baseline does not have a towel service on site, please bring your own court towels.
PET/ANIMAL POLICY
While pets are allowed on the University grounds, they are not allowed in University buildings. Pets are not allowed on Baseline Tennis Center grounds (this includes the outdoor court areas).
