FUN TENNIS EVENT FOR CHILDREN AGES 6-18 YEARS OLD!!!
No Experience Required: Volunteers will assist participants to have a fun experience, helping with the basics of scoring and position, and ensuring a positive atmosphere. Racquets and balls will be provided for all participants.
Awards: Prizes will be given to the top 3 finishers in each event; everyone will be given a tournament gift bag!

• No-Add Scoring, Non-Elimination Draws
• Minimum Age: 9 years old; or 7 or 8 based on meeting the requirements of the Net Generation PlayTracker may play in a Net Generation Program that uses Green Ball Tennis. (See Appendix 4)
• 27" Maximum Racquet Length
• Please thoroughly review the 12U Player Competencies to see what player development should occur with Orange Ball Tennis.
• NOTE: 12 & Under Tournaments generally do award points however this event is unsanctioned and will not count toward a USTA section standing.
Rules & Regulations
• This is a flexible coed singles and doubles round robin event
• The number of playerss within each division will determine the number of games played each round.
• If necessary, divisions will be divided into pools
• If necessary, divisions may be grouped separately by boys and girls based on number of participants
• Each player will rotate and play with and against every player in their division or pool in a game-based and time-based period.
• The player with the greatest number of games won in their division will win the turkey. Division or Pool winners will play a 5-point match point tiebreaker to determine the winner. First to 5.
• All participants will receive a raffle ticket for prize giveaways!
Fundraiser Event
• All proceeds from this fundraiser go directly to the Mid-Columbia Tennis Association. Players unable to play in this tournament are encouraged to donate to our cause.

Entry Fee
• All registrations are free, anyone charged will be refunded.
• Limit to two same age-based coed divisions (singles and/or doubles) entries per red, orange, or green ball event, per player. No entries across multiple age-based divisions or red, orange, green ball events.
• All tournament registration fees will be handled through the USTA Play Tennis tournaments website.
Tournament Note
• Tournament Director will place players into pools and manually create round robin format.
• Participants must check in 30 min prior to match time.
• Bring non-marking shoes, water bottle, and a smile!
• Racquets will be provided (if needed)
• Scorekeepers and Volunteers will be help on all courts!

Background
Our non-profit organization roots started 25 years ago when the late Phyllis Meyers, an avid tennis player at the Columbia Basic Racquet Club (CBRC), passed away in 1998. Phyllis Meyers left a legacy of giving back to the tennis community and young players. Since then, the Phyllis Meyers Tennis Association was established and has been helping grow tennis in the Tri-Cities. In memory of her love for the game of tennis her husband, Art, wanted to create a scholarship fund that would allow kids the ability to afford tennis. With the help of CBRC, Art organized a tennis tournament to raise a scholarship fund for underprivileged kids to play tennis and take lessons.
MCTA Established
In 2014, the Phyllis Meyers’ Tennis Association elevated to a full non-profit 501(c)(3) and expanded the mission beyond CBRC to help kids who were not directly affiliated with the tennis clubs. By 2015, the Phyllis Meyers’ Tennis Association changed its name to the Mid-Columbia Tennis Association and repurposed its mission to be more involved year-round. Exposing more kids and tennis in elementary and middle schools became our primary focus to create a new influx of tennis players into the local Tri-City community and greater Mid-Columbia region of Southeastern Washington and Northeastern Oregon. Our secondary focus is to grow the sport of tennis in the Mid-Columbia area for the current and future generations of all ages to explore their love for the game.

Will my junior get in?
No draw is full yet. Selection runs off the ranking list when entries close, and it runs differently at different levels, so whether a junior gets in depends on where they sit in this field. Add their USTA ID and we will tell you.
What is a Unsanctioned?
USTA junior tournaments run from Level 7 (local, open to anyone) up to Level 1 (national). Lower number, stronger field, more points.
When do we know?
