This is a 12 and under Level 2 intersectional team event for SoCal, NorCal, Intermountain, and Pacific Northwest players only. Players from outside these 4 sections will be withdrawn/not selected.
**IF YOU ARE SELECTED INTO THIS EVENT FOR THE 12's DIVISION, YOU WILL NOT BE SELECTED INTO THE 14, 16, OR 18's DIVISIONS IF YOU ARE REGISTERED FOR THOSE DIVISIONS. Furthermore, if you played in the other age divisions (14s, 16s, 18s), you will not be selected for the 12s.

TEAM EVENT
This is a team event that requires a lot of administrative work any time someone pulls out. Please be considerate of the tournament staff and your fellow teammates and only enter if you intend to play the tournament to completion. If you withdraw and we cannot find a replacement to take your spot, your matches will be coded as walkovers on your record.
TEAM SELECTION
The top 6 players that register from each section, in their respective gender and age division, will be selected using the NSL List that is set to be published on Wednesday, August 19th for BG12s. Players may not be able to withdraw from the division that they were accepted in to play in another division.
Team Selections will be posted on Friday, August 21st.
Team Line-Up will be based on WTN from September 9th.* Players may only play in ONE division. Players can register for multiple age divisions in the Pacific Cup Team Events, but if they are selected into an older age division then they must play in that event. Anyone selected for 12s-16s will be ineligible for 18s.
Players who are selected will be removed from all other alternate lists.
Players can remain on the alternates list of more than one age division but cannot play in more than one event.
ALTERNATES
Section alternates will be used for each section until the section alternate list is exhausted. If sections don’t fill their spots, players from other sections on overall alternate list (ordered by NSL) will start filling vacant spots starting 1 week after the entry deadline . If any late entries enter after all vacant spots have been filled on their team by members of other section's players, they are permitted to be the #1 alternate for their team (but will not kick out any previously selected players). If you enter in another tournament the weekend of September 18-20, you MUST notify us to withdraw your name from the alternate list. If you withdraw from a previously selected tournament to play in this one, you will be assessed double entry suspension points.

Will my junior get in?
No draw is full yet. Selection is by ranking list, so a junior with no ranking can still get in when a draw is not full, and goes on the alternate list when it is.
What is a Level 2?
USTA junior tournaments run from Level 7 (local, open to anyone) up to Level 1 (national). Lower number, stronger field, more points.
Can we enter two divisions?
One event per player at this tournament. Pick the age group that matches your junior's birth year, or the one up if they are ready for it.
When do we know?
Selections post after entries close (Thu, Aug 20, 8:59am PDT). Draws usually post the week of the tournament. Text Coach Ace and we will tell you the moment either one lands.

Players who are planning to be on-site alternates for their section will need to notify us NO LATER THAN 2 days before the tournament start date. If we don't hear from players from the other sections planning to be alternates for their section, we will use the home section's onsite alternates.
TEAM COMPOSITION: Each section will send 6 boys and 6 girls and will be split into two pools. Each section is ONE team.

In the event that there are withdrawals, a player's team is subject to change (if you’re not on your home section’s team) and your position is subject to change.
Teams will likely not be announced until the morning of the tournament until all the players check in, in the event that there are any last minute withdrawals or no-shows.
FORMAT EXPLAINED
Format for Level 2 Kats Kup Intersectional Event:
Tournament Structure
Team Formation:
Total Players: 48 (4 teams (each section) of 12 players each)
Pools: Sections are divided into two pools (Pool A and Pool B) with 4 teams in each pool.
Round Robin Structure:
Each Pool: Teams will play against the other teams in their pool that will result in each team playing 3 matches within their pool.
Scoring: Each match won per round earns 1 point for the players section.
Scoring and Placement:
Placement: Teams will be placed in their order of finish during pool play based on the team overall score.
Tiebreaker Procedure: If there is a match up that sums to 9-9, the designated coach from each team will choose one boy and one girl (from either pool) to play a mixed 10 MTB to break the tie.
Round Robin Order of Finish
In the event there are round robin draws, the order of finish will be determined as stated on page 73 of USTA Friend at Court:
The player who wins the most matches is the winner. If two players are tied, then the winner of their head-to-head match is the winner. If three or more players are tied, the Referee shall use the following steps in the order listed to break all ties. The Referee shall break as many ties as possible using a given step before using the next step. These steps are:
The head-to-head win-loss record in matches involving just the tied players;
The player with the highest percentage of sets won of all sets completed;
The head-to-head win-loss record in matches involving the players who remain tied;
The player with the highest percentage of games won of all games completed;
The head-to-head win-loss record in matches involving the players who remain tied;
The player with the highest percentage of sets won of sets completed among players in the group under consideration;
The head-to-head win-loss record in matches involving the players who remain tied;
The player with the highest percentage of games won of games completed among the players under consideration; and
The head-to-head win-loss record in matches involving the players who remain tied.
If the Referee has applied all the steps and a tie still cannot be broken, the Referee shall use a random drawing among the remaining tied players to determine their order of finish.

Play: The playoffs will match teams from opposite pools to avoid repeating opponents from the Round Robin.

This structure ensures that coaches do not coach against their own teams, players face different opponents, and a clear ranking and playoff system determines the final standings.

MATCH FORMAT: Each team match will consist of 3 boys singles, 3 girls singles, and 3 doubles matches. The doubles matches will be as follows:
Round 1: #1s play mixed, others play gender
• Round 2: #2s play mixed, others play gender
• Round 3: #3s play mixed, others play gender
• Playoffs/ Crossover matches: Everyone plays mixed
SCORING FORMAT (No Ad Scoring to be used for singles and doubles)
Singles: Best of 3 tiebreak sets (10-pt breaker for the 3rd) No-Ad Scoring
Doubles/Mixed: 6-game set with 7-point Tiebreak at 6 all, No-Ad Scoring
DETERMINING ORDER OF FINISH
The team with the highest number of matches won will be declared the winner of that head to head match (9 possible points).
Each singles and doubles match is worth 1 point. The most points that one team can receive is 9 in one round.
Round Robin order of finish will be determined by overall record. FAC will be used to determine order of finish if there are tied teams
COACHES
• We will provide 4 local Southern California coaches to coach the boys and girls team of each section; 1 coach per section. This means one coach will be shared between the two teams from the same section.
• In the event that the same section play off in the championship match, there will either be no coaching allowed in that match, that coach will coach both teams evenly, or a second coach may be brought in to coach one of those teams.
No coaching from parents if players split sets. Only assigned coaches are allowed to coach.
Coaching is permitted during tiebreaks and in between points as long as it does not disrupt the flow of play
PLAYER GIFTS/SNACKS
Each player will receive a player gift on Friday during check-in. Snacks will also be provided throughout the event at the tournament desk.
FRIDAY EVENING PIZZA PARTY/SNOW CONE TRUCK!!
Pizza and Snow Cones will be provided for the players towards the conclusion of the day.
LUNCH PROVIDED (SATURDAY & SUNDAY ONLY)

**Draws and match formats may be altered for cogent reasons.
DOUBLE ENTRIES: Players are not permitted to enter two tournaments at the same time. When entries close, a player shall not be entered in two or more sanctioned tournaments, if any part of the tournament sanction dates overlap (once you have been selected for a tournament, you are committed to finishing out that tournament and you cannot enter another tournament). After a player has been eliminated from a tournament whose schedule of play partially overlaps with that of a second tournament, the player may enter the second tournament. Players who violate this rule will be disqualified from both tournaments and will receive four (4) suspension points. If you are an alternate for another tournament, you MUST remove yourself from that alternate list once you are accepted into another tournament. Players who violate this rule will be disqualified from both tournaments (applies to SoCal tournaments only) and will receive four (4) suspension points. (USTA Regulations IV.F.)
DEFAULT NO-SHOW POLICY: Players are expected to play all matches including main draw and consolation. It is mandatory to notify the tournament director in written communication (via email) that a player needs to withdraw. Failure to notify the Tournament Director via email will receive a “Default No-Show” and 5 suspension points per the USTA Suspension Point System (USTA Regulations IV.F.)
NEW MAKEUP DATES & REFUND POLICY
No refund is required beginning six days before the start date of the tournament or after selection is made, whichever date is later, if you withdraw from the tournament.
In the case of inclement weather, every effort will be made to complete the tournament in its entirety by changing the match or scoring format, if necessary.
If the tournament is shortened or otherwise modified in any way due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, refunds will not be offered.
If the tournament is canceled entirely prior to the player’s first match being completed, the player will be entitled to a 50% refund (after deducting USTA electronic fees), as the tournament has already incurred administrative and organizational expenses.
Once a player’s first match is complete, they are not entitled to a refund. Receiving a withdrawal/ default/ walkover counts as a match played as players receive ranking points.
The fee for electronic entries is not considered a part of the entry fee and is non-refundable.
The SCTA and the tournament/sanction holder are not responsible for loss of fees incurred from travel costs due to a cancelled, shortened, or abandoned tournament.
Players may not make up matches after the last sanctioned day of the tournament without prior written approval of the Sectional Association. Makeup dates will only be permitted if the original duration of the tournament is less than the maximum number of days allowed for that tournament level per the USTA Regulations.
STANDARDS OF CONDUCT
Players, persons who appear to be associated with a player (including, but not limited to, parents and coaches), officials, and organizers of any tournament are under a duty to encourage and maintain high standards of proper conduct, fair play, and good sportsmanship. They are under an obligation to avoid acts that may be considered detrimental to the game of tennis. Detrimental acts include, but are not limited to, the acts set forth in USTA Regulation IV.C (Standards of Conduct). Friend at Court

USTA SoCal Rule for USTA SoCal Sanctioned Tournaments - 3rd Overrule (Two Suspension Points): If a player is overruled by one or more officials three times, the player may receive a code violation (point penalty) for unsportsmanlike conduct on the third overrule. Subsequent overrules will result in additional code violations (game penalty for the 4th overrule then default for the 5th overrule).
DRESS CODE POLICY
The USTA SoCal Staff and all officials of this event would like to inform the players of our expectations of proper attire while competing in this tournament:
ALL PLAYERS: Proper tennis attire is mandatory at all times. No cut off t-shirts or cut off shorts. Sleeveless tennis shirts may be worn. Clothing shall not include reference to gambling, tobacco products, alcohol, profanity, or violence.

Air Quality Index Guidelines
USTA SoCal's top priority is participant safety at all events. To that end USTA SoCal has adopted Air Quality (AQI 2.5) Guidelines using guidance from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). USTA SoCal and all organizers of USTA SoCal sanctioned tournaments and sanctioned leagues, and other USTA SoCal sponsored events shall use www.airnow.gov as the standard for local AQI monitoring. Entry Fee: Players who fail to pay the entry fee prior to the start date of the tournament may receive two (2) suspension points (USTA Regulations IV.F - Table 17) and be replaced by an alternate in the draw or defaulted from the tournament.
