Thank you for your interest in our Level 5 Open event at Fountain Valley Tennis Center / Costa Mesa Tennis Center on May 30 - June 1, 2026. This is a Level 5 Open with Flighted Draws, accepting up to 48 entries in each division.
There are multiple sites for this event - please arrive promptly and check-in on time at the site listed on the draw. Due to the amount of matches scheduled, we will strictly enforce and apply lateness penalties, up to and including defaults.

Flighted Draws
This tournament will accept a maximum of 48 players per age division and utilize the flighted draw format. Players 1-16 will be flighted into the first flight, 17-32 into the second flight, and 33-48 into the third flight based on World Tennis Number (WTN). This means there will be more level-based play within each flight. Selection will be based on National Standings List (NSL) and seeding within each flight will be by WTN. If it's not a full draw, we will split the draws evenly. For example: There are 18 players in a division. Draw A will have 9 players and Draw B will have 9 players.

Will my junior get in?
Boys' Singles 12 & under, Boys' Doubles 14 & under, Boys' Singles 14 & under, Boys' Singles 16 & under, Girls' Singles 14 & under, Girls' Singles 16 & under are full; the rest have room. Selection is by ranking list, so a junior with no ranking can still get in when a draw is not full, and goes on the alternate list when it is.
What is a Level 5?
A district-level event. Bigger draws, ranking matters for selection, points per win are higher than Level 6.
When do we know?
Selections post after entries close (Mon, May 25, 2:59pm PDT). Draws usually post the week of the tournament. Text Coach Ace and we will tell you the moment either one lands.

Withdrawals
If there is a withdrawal after the draw has been published, the spot will be replaced by the next alternate, assuming that the alternate does not invalidate the seeds or the draw (i.e. an alternate with a strong WTN going into a flight that is weaker than the one they would have originally gone into would invalidate the draw). If there is no alternate, the match will be coded as a walkover.
There is no consolation for this event.

Doubles
Up to 24 teams will be selected in each age division.
Players must sign up for doubles in same division they are playing singles in.

Match format
All singles matches will be best of two tiebreak sets and a 10 point match tiebreak, at one set all, using regular scoring.
All doubles matches will be an eight game pro-set with a regular tiebreak at 8 games all, using no-ad scoring.

The Junior Competition Committee has voted to have the USTA So Cal staff responsible for L3 closed, L4 open & closed, and L5 selection using National Standings List (NSL) and seedings using a Computerized List Method (WTN for this tournament) . USTA So Cal staff will select 45 top NSL and up to 3 Wild Cards. USTA So Cal staff and Tournament Director will determine the Wild Cards. Doubles Pairing
It's VERY IMPORTANT to pair with your partner when entering in doubles. Your registration is not complete until BOTH players confirm and you receive a CONFIRMATION EMAIL! Please contact the tournament director BEFORE the entry deadline if you need assistance.
If you are looking for a doubles partner, there are two ways to find one through Match Tennis App . Once you have a partner, your registration is not complete until you are PAIRED with your partner via the USTA registration page. Players are responsible for finding their own doubles partner and pairing with them before the entry deadline.
Selection and Alternate Information
Please be aware of the draw size and selection process. If draws are limited, not all players will be selected and those not selected will be placed on an alternate list. Alternates will not be charged an entry fee until they are selected into the tournament.

During the registration process, please provide all phone numbers and email address you want us to use to communicate with you. Failure to provide this information will limit the tournament’s ability to communicate with you as we are not able to edit the information following a player’s entry.
Tournament Dates and Avoidance Requests
Please note that any and all of the tournament dates listed above may be used. Players are expected to be available to play during tournament dates. The Tournament Director is not obligated to fulfill avoidance requests, but may choose to do so. Avoidance requests must be made prior to registering for an event in order to ensure that the Tournament Director can fulfill it prior to applying for an event.
Wild Card Process
All tournaments are entitled to award wild cards based on their draw size but are not required to. If a tournament wishes to award them, the maximum number of wild cards that can be awarded are as follows: 4 in a draw of 64 or higher; 2 in a draw of 32; 1 in a draw of 16 or fewer.
Double Entries
Players are not permitted to enter two tournaments at the same time. When entries close, a player shall not be entered in two or more sanctioned tournaments, if any part of the tournament sanction dates overlap (once you have been selected for a tournament, you are committed to finishing out that tournament and you cannot enter another tournament). After a player has been eliminated from a tournament whose schedule of play partially overlaps with that of a second tournament, the player may enter the second tournament. Players who violate this rule will be disqualified from both tournaments and will receive four (4) suspension points. If you are an alternate for another tournament, you MUST remove yourself from that alternate list once you are accepted into another tournament. Players who violate this rule will be disqualified from both tournaments (applies to SoCal tournaments only) and will receive four (4) suspension points. (USTA Regulations IV.F.)
Default No-Show Policy
Players are expected to play all matches including main draw and consolation. It is mandatory to notify the tournament director in written communication (via email) that a player needs to withdraw. Failure to notify the Tournament Director via email will receive a “Default No-Show” and 5 suspension points per the USTA Suspension Point System (USTA Regulations IV.F.)
Makeup Dates and Refund Policies
No refund is required beginning six days before the start date of the tournament or after selection is made, whichever date is later, if you withdraw from the tournament.
In the case of inclement weather, every effort will be made to complete the tournament in its entirety by changing the match or scoring format, if necessary.
If the tournament is shortened or otherwise modified in any way due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, refunds will not be offered.
If the tournament is canceled entirely prior to the player’s first match being completed, the player will be entitled to a 50% refund (after deducting USTA electronic fees), as the tournament has already incurred administrative and organizational expenses.
Once a player’s first match is complete, they are not entitled to a refund. Receiving a withdrawal/ default/ walkover counts as a match played as players receive ranking points.
The fee for electronic entries is not considered a part of the entry fee and is non-refundable.
Players may not make up matches after the last sanctioned day of the tournament without prior written approval of the Sectional Association. Makeup dates will only be permitted if the original duration of the tournament is less than the maximum number of days allowed for that tournament level per the USTA Regulations.
Standards of Conduct
Players, persons who appear to be associated with a player (including, but not limited to, parents and coaches), officials, and organizers of any tournament are under a duty to encourage and maintain high standards of proper conduct, fair play, and good sportsmanship. They are under an obligation to avoid acts that may be considered detrimental to the game of tennis. Detrimental acts include, but are not limited to, the acts set forth in USTA Regulation IV.C (Standards of Conduct). Friend at Court

USTA SoCal Rule for USTA SoCal Sanctioned Tournaments - 3rd Overrule (Two Suspension Points): If a player is overruled by one or more officials three times, the player may receive a code violation (point penalty) for unsportsmanlike conduct on the third overrule. Subsequent overrules will result in additional code violations (game penalty for the 4th overrule then default for the 5th overrule).
DRESS CODE POLICY
The USTA SoCal Staff and all officials of this event would like to inform the players of our expectations of proper attire while competing in this tournament:
ALL PLAYERS: Proper tennis attire is mandatory at all times. No cut off t-shirts or cut off shorts. Sleeveless tennis shirts may be worn. Clothing shall not include reference to gambling, tobacco products, alcohol, profanity, or violence.
