From the tournament desk

The Live Like Braun Tournament benefits the Live Like Braun Foundation (501c3). The Foundation was created as a way to honor Braun Levi's life and legacy. Braun was a SoCal USTA player from age 6 until 18, when his life was tragically cut short by an alleged drunk driver. Through a non-elimination compass draw format, the tournament brings players together in a competitive and inclusive setting, which was Braun’s favorite way of playing. This tournament supports the foundation’s work in building community and creating positive impact through scholarship access and education on the risks of DUI.

As of 7:00 PM Friday, we will no longer be offering openings from the alternate list in the order players are listed.

If you would still like an opportunity to play, I will be accepting on-site alternates for any first-round opening on Saturday, provided adding the player does not invalidate the tournament seeding or flighting.

On-site openings will be offered in the order alternates check in at the tournament desk. Please note that only players currently on the official alternate list are eligible to sign in as on-site alternates.

Format Information: Please do not enter this event if you do not intend to complete all of your compass draw matches.

This is a compass draw tournament guaranteeing all players three matches over the two-day event. Players are expected to compete through the completion of the tournament. Due to the nature of the format, no time requests can be accommodated.

Each division (Boys 14s & Girls 14s) will accept 8 players. If court space allows, additional flights of 8 may be added and will be divided intos eparate flights of 8 players each. Flights will be determined by WTN following the close of registration.

If a division receives fewer entries, the format may be adjusted to a single flight.

All matches will be best 2 out of 3 sets with regular scoring and a 10-point tiebreak in lieu of a third set.

Draws will be posted within 48 hours of registration closing.

USTA ranking points for this event will follow the USTA flighted draw points table for Level 5 tournaments.

WITHDRAWALS (FLIGHTED EVENTS)

If there is a withdrawal after the draw has been published, the spot will be replaced by the next alternate, assuming that the alternate does not invalidate the seeds or the draw (i.e. an alternate with a strong WTN going into a flight that is weaker than the one they would have originally gone into would invalidate the draw). If there is no alternate, the match will be coded as a walkover.

Will my junior get in?

Boys' Singles 14 & under, Girls' Singles 14 & under are full; the rest have room. Selection is by ranking list, so a junior with no ranking can still get in when a draw is not full, and goes on the alternate list when it is.

What is a Level 5?

A district-level event. Bigger draws, ranking matters for selection, points per win are higher than Level 6.

Can we enter two divisions?

One event per player at this tournament. Pick the age group that matches your junior's birth year, or the one up if they are ready for it.

When do we know?
