LEVEL 5 SELECTION PROCESS

The Junior Competition Committee has voted to have the USTA So Cal staff responsible for L3 closed, L4 open & closed, and L5 selection using National Standings List (NSL) and seedings using a Computerized List Method (As of January 1, 2023, the JCC will utilize WTN as its computerized list). USTA So Cal staff will select 30 top NSL and up to 2 Wild Cards. USTA So Cal staff and Tournament Director will determine the Wild Cards. Doubles seedings will be the combined singles WTN of the two players. Ties in combined doubles WTN will be broken using combined NSL of the two players. Doubles Selection Memo

Voluntary Consolation: VC only applies to the following

Players that lose in the first round of the main draw

Players who have advanced to the second round of the main draw via bye then lose in the second round

Players who have advanced to the third round of the main draw via double-bye then lose in the third round.

IMPORTANT! Players who advance to the second round of the main draw via walkover/ withdrawal/ default/ retirement that lose in the second round of the main draw CANNOT be added to the voluntary consolation draw!

Flighted Draws

This tournament will accept a maximum of 32 players per age division and utilize the flighted draw format. Players 1-16 will be flighted into the first flight, 17-32 into the second flight based on World Tennis Number (WTN). This means there will be more level-based play within each flight. Selection will be based on National Standings List (NSL) and seeding within each flight will be by WTN. If it's not a full draw, we will split the draws evenly. For example: There are 18 players in a division. Draw A will have 9 players and Draw B will have 9 players.

The director's own notes, as published on USTA. Ace reads these too.
