Late Entries
We will take late entries through noon, Monday, March 8th at noon. If you want to be a late entry, you must email me at bill.reynolds@carync.gov.
If a division is full, you will go on the bottom of the alternate list in the order you contact me regardless of standings. If you want your standing to help you get into this tournament, make sure to apply before the registration deadline!
Asking for Rest Time Between Matches
If you want to ask for more time between matches, you MUST do so as soon as your match ends, before leaving the area of your court, by talking to an official in your area. Once you leave the facility, you forfeit the ability to ask for more time. We will not take requests for more time via phone, email, or text. We structure it this way out of respect for your next opponent's time. It is unfair for you to ask for more time at the last minute to accommodate your schedule while your opponent makes plans based on the original match time.
Please go ahead and fill out your Match Tennis App waiver! Make sure the phone number you put down is the one that will be at the tournament. Please also note that MTA is NOT an official source of information for any USTA event. If the MTA and USTA sites differ, the USTA website wins! MTA also will not populate your next match to check in until both opponents advance in the draw, AND MTA picks up on it. That process can sometimes be delayed 10-15min.

Playsight
As part of your player gift, we will be offering FREE Playsight recordings of your matches. You must have an account setup in order to get a recording. Please go ahead and do that now so you can start your recording on time. It takes about 5min to setup.
We have cameras on courts 1-16 and Stadium. You MUST start the recording to get it. We are streaming everything live, but we are not recording everything. You cannot go back and get a recording you did not start.
Once you are assigned your court, the player needs to go to the court, and the parent or guardian will come to the front desk to start the recording. You can only record your own player's match. The front desk will give you a QR code to scan or camera code to type in. If you're recording a singles match, please set the timer to 2 hours. If it's a doubles match, please set the timer to 1.5 hours. If your opponent started the recording before you for your match, you will "Join Session" and receive a copy of the recording as well.
WHEN YOUR MATCH ENDS, PLEASE END THE RECORDING!!! We cannot end the recording, and the next person cannot start theirs until you stop your recording.

Will my junior get in?
No draw is full yet. Selection is by ranking list, so a junior with no ranking can still get in when a draw is not full, and goes on the alternate list when it is.
What is a Level 4?
USTA junior tournaments run from Level 7 (local, open to anyone) up to Level 1 (national). Lower number, stronger field, more points.
When do we know?
Selections post after entries close (Thu, Mar 4, 5:59pm EST). Draws usually post the week of the tournament. Text Coach Ace and we will tell you the moment either one lands.

For those of you not familiar with the Match Tennis App, it is a platform which we use to operate a virtual tournament desk. There is no physical tournament desk for our events. You will need to fill out the Match Tennis App waiver with the cell phone number or numbers that will be present at the tourament.
You will check in for your match on the app. If you check in, it means you are ready to play regardless of match time. If you are assigned a court, you are immediately put on the clock.
When we have a court for you, you will receive a text message and in app message with your court assignment. You are to immediately proceed to your court. We have maps around the facility denoting your location and court numbers. The officials will put balls on court for you. Immediately spin your rackets if the official is not present to do a coin toss, and then start your 5min match warm-up.
After the match, you will enter your match score on the app as well. Please do this ASAP as our tourament staff must manually enter the score in the USTA software so it appears on the draws online.
Note that the Match Tennis App is NOT an official source of tournament information. You need to bookmarck the USTA website for this event. The draw lists official match times. We will change the match time in the draw if we are going to change any match time.
MTA will NOT show your next match for check in until your match, and your future opponent's match, have finished, we have entered the scores on the USTA site, AND MTA has picked all of that up. JUST BECAUSE THERE IS NO MATCH TO CHECK-IN ON THE APP DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE DONE! This is why it is important for you to refer to the USTA draws for match times.
Doubles Partners
The tournament will not reach out to doubles partners. You can directly message other playrs through the UTR website. You can also post your info on the Match Tennis App Doubles Partner section and reach out to players who post their info there.
Once you have a partner, please pair on the USTA website AND name your doubles partner on your Match Tennis App waiver. You can also email me and I will pair them on the USTA website.
After the deadline to register, the deadline to name a doubles partner will be Wednesday, March 12th at 9am. You need to name your partner in your MTA waiver and email me before that time. At 9am, I will download the information from MTA. I will pair partners on the USTA website as time goes. That will be the official list of who is paired.
Selections and Seeding
This tournament will use the National Combined Standing List for player selection. The Singles Seeding List will be used for splitting and seeding draws. Players will be flighted/seeded by ranking 1-16 into the first flight, and flighted/seeded 17-32 by ranking into the second flight, 33-48 3rd draw, and 49-64 4th draw. If it's not a full draw, we will split the draws evenly. Also, we will not split draws with less than 16 players. There will simply be one draw for those divisions. For example: There are 17 players in a division. Draw A will have 9 players and Draw B will have 8 players.
Doubles will also be flighted into two draws of 16. Both draws will be single elimination.
No refunds will be given after selections have been made.
For doubles selections, we will take teams in this order by combined standing for each group:
- Teams with both players accepted into singles
- Teams with one player in singles, and one not
- Teams with no players in singles
On-Site Alternates
We will have a sign in for on-site alternates. Sometime on Friday we will stop calling alternates off of the alternate list and move to the on-site alternate process. Players are to sign in at the CTP Clubhouse by 8am for boys, and 9am for girls with their name, USTA number, and phone number. We will order those who sign in by Combined Standing. Should someone withdraw, we will call you. You MUST remain at CTP until all 1st round matches have gone on court. This is because when we call you, we are often sending you directly to a court. If we call you and discover you are not on-site, we will immediately move to the next player on the on-site alternate list.
Format and Schedule of Play
Each singles division will be divided into flights of up to 16 players (up to 64 players per division). Each flight will play a FICQ. Doubles will be flighted into two single elimination draws of 16 players.
Assuming perfect weather, the tentative schedule will be:
Saturday - 2 rounds of singles and 2 rounds of doubles
Sunday - 2 rounds of singles and 2 rounds of doubles (main draw singles will complete on Sunday)
Monday - Singles Consolation Finals
Singles will be two out of three sets to 6 games, with ads, 7pt tiebreaker at 6-6, 10pt match tiebreaker in lieu of the third set.
Doubles will be an 8 game pro set, with ads, 7pt tiebreaker at 8-8.
Sites and Practice Courts
Due to construction on courts 1-12, we likely will have to utilize multipe sites for this tournament:

Dunham Park - 519 Walnut St, Cary, NC
We will utilize our indoor courts in the event of weather. Before play (8am), all outdoor courts are available for warm-up. After play starts, we will designate 2-3 courts for walk-up warm-ups. On these courts, players need to share. Players hitting with each other will take priority over a player hitting with anyone not competing in the tournament. Be prepared to hit 4 to a court. You must bring your own balls to warm-up.

DEFAULT NO-SHOW POLICY: Players are expected to play all matches including main draw and consolation. It is mandatory to notify the tournament director in written communication (via email) that a player needs to withdraw. Failure to notify the Tournament Director via email will receive a “Default No-Show” and 5 suspension points per the USTA Suspension Point System (USTA Regulations IV.F.)
STANDARDS OF CONDUCT
Players, persons who appear to be associated with a player (including, but not limited to, parents and coaches), officials, and organizers of any tournament are under a duty to encourage and maintain high standards of proper conduct, fair play, and good sportsmanship. They are under an obligation to avoid acts that may be considered detrimental to the game of tennis. USTA Southern 2027 Doubles Format Change:
Starting in January 2027, USTA Southern L3 - L5 Tournaments will play no-ad scoring in Doubles.
SIGNING UP FOR TWO DIVISIONS:
Players may register for two age divisions in Level 3 Closed, Level 4 Open/Closed tournaments. Players that do register for both divisions will automatically be selected in the older division if they are selected for both. Players not selected to either division will remain on both alternate lists for both divisions but will need to play the division they first get into from the alternate lists. They will be removed from the Alternate list in the other division. Once a player is selected for any one division, NO CHANGES CAN BE MADE.
YOU MUST PLAY THE SAME AGE DIVISION FOR SINGLES AND DOUBLES:
Per STA rules for all National Level 3-5's, you must play the same doubles division as your chosen singles division.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL PLAYERS RE: CONCURRENT TOURNAMENTS
USTA Regulations state the following:
• Player shall not enter two tournaments at same time. When entries close, a player shall not be entered in two or more sanctioned tournaments, if any part of the tournaments overlap unless each Tournament Committee involved understands the situation and concurs in writing. After a player has been eliminated from a tournament whose schedule of play partially overlaps with that of a second tournament, the player may enter the second tournament.
(USTA REGULATIONS IV.C. (Standards of Conduct), 2025 Friend at Court, #s 12 through #17 apply).
Penalty: (4) Suspension points to player in violation per offense, enforced by either Tournament Committee, and/or USTA Administration.
SPORTSMANSHIP & THE USTA PLAYER OATH:
All participants shall familiarize themselves with The Code which is meant to be a guide to fair play. By participating in the tournament, all players agree to abide by the USTA Player Oath: "I recognize that tennis is a sport that places the responsibility for fair play on me. I promise to abide by the rules of the game, which require me to give the benefit of the doubt to my opponent. At all times I shall strive to compete with the true spirit of sportsmanship, recognizing that my behavior on the court is a direct reflection of my character. Whether my matches end with my victory or defeat, I promise to conduct myself in a way that honors my opponents, those who support me, and the game of tennis."
SAFE PLAY INFORMATION FOR PLAYERS & COACHES:
Please be advised that if you plan to bring your coach with you, he/she SHOULD be Safe Play Approved through the end of the Tournament. This includes completing SafeSport training, acknowledging the USTA Safe Play Policy which includes reporting requirements, and a criminal background check. You can check if your coach is Safe Play Approved by visiting: https://www.usta.com/en/home/safe-play/search-for-a-tennis-provider.html. If they are not Safe Play Approved, please ensure they complete the process ASAP by visiting www.usta.com/safeplay and selecting “Get Approved.” PLEASE NOTE: SAFESPORT TRAINING IS 90 MINUTES LONG AND FULL APPROVAL CAN TAKE UP TO 5 DAYS.
