Seeding will be USTA Standing Combined (Electronic) This tournament's seeding will be done in accordance with USTA Regulations. They will be compiled and examined by the Head Referee, Tournament Director, and members of the Tournament Committee.

2024 Formats: 1-day, BG 12U through 18U Singles -Yellow Ball (Sunday is used if Saturday is a complete rain out.)
Court Surface: Outdoor hard court
Balls: Penn extra duty (USTA National Junior Level 7 events are for Boys/Girls, ages 12-18 and all play is conducted with yellow ball.)

Will my junior get in?
No draw is full yet. Selection is by ranking list, so a junior with no ranking can still get in when a draw is not full, and goes on the alternate list when it is.
What is a Level 7?
The entry point of USTA junior tennis. One or two days, local, no ranking needed to enter, and every win earns ranking points. The right first tournament.
Can we enter two divisions?
One event per player at this tournament. Pick the age group that matches your junior's birth year, or the one up if they are ready for it.
When do we know?
Selections post after entries close (Tue, Sep 8, 5:59pm EDT). Draws usually post the week of the tournament. Text Coach Ace and we will tell you the moment either one lands.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE
Tuesday @ 5:59pm, prior to tournament start date
Late entries may be accepted IF they do not affect seeding and are ultimately at the discretion of the tournament director, a Late Fee may be applied.
ONE-DAY EVENT
Sanctioned to go over the period of one day. Two days may be considered for these reasons: the 2nd day is a rain back up day OR if a host plans to play certain divisions on day one and the other divisions on day two. (For example, BG12-14s can be played on Saturday and BG16-18s can be played on Sunday.)
SELECTIONS
Non-ranked to ranked or “Bottom Up”, which means players who have no standing in the points per round ranking system will get selected first above players who have a standing.
Seeding is to be completed by using the most recently published National Standings List. (Seeds are placed in position based on the rules in the Friend at Court. All other players are placed randomly in draws.
8 draw limits for singles in all age groups (TD may increase the draw limit once permission is granted by the STATE OFFICE with proof of adequate number of courts available)
SINGLES SCORE FORMAT
One standard tiebreak set to 6, 7-point tiebreak at 6 games all.
One short set to 4, 7-point tiebreak at 4 games all (inclement weather format AFTER approval by NCTA staff)
No-Ad scoring may be used if the Referee deems it necessary.

USTA REGULATIONS STATE THE FOLLOWING: A Player shall not enter two tournaments at the same time. When entries close, a player shall not be entered in two or more sanctioned tournaments, if any part of the tournaments overlap unless each Tournament Committee involved understands the situation and concurs in writing. After a player has been eliminated from a tournament whose schedule of play partially overlaps with that of a second tournament, the player may enter the second tournament. (USTA REGULATIONS IV.C. (Standards of Conduct),2021 Friend at Court, #s 12 through #17 apply). Penalty: (4) Suspension points to player in violation per offense, enforced by either Tournament Committee, and/or USTA Administration.
WAIVER! PARENTS/GUARDIANS MUST COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING STEPS, NO EXCEPTIONS! It is up to each Tournament Director to collect waivers for each player. The TD may elect to use Serve Tennis, Jotform, Match App or have on site printed.
PAYMENT! If a player has not submitted payment prior to the draw and match schedules being made, the Tournament Director has the right to withdraw the player.

A player must win a round to receive any Ranking Points for the tournament.
Players do not receive any points until they have won a round.
Byes do not qualify as wins.
Withdrawals and walkovers qualify as wins for the advancing player and earn Points Per Round, but do not earn Bonus Points.
Retirements qualify as wins for the advancing player and earn Points Per Round and, if applicable, Bonus Points.
A player who advances because of a default that takes place before the commencement of the first point in the match or because the opponent is disqualified shall receive Points Per Round for advancing but shall not receive any Bonus Points.
A player who advances because of a default that takes place after the commencement of the first point in the match shall receive Points Per Round for advancing and, if eligible, Bonus Points.
Best 6: This term refers to the number of singles tournaments and doubles tournaments that count for standing and ranking (effectively 12 total tournaments). A player may have more than 6 singles and 6 doubles tournaments on their player record, but only the results from the best 6 of each will be used in the PPR Calculation.
The PPR Calculation: National Standings Lists and Ranking Lists order players based on the following PPR calculation. This list is often called a “Combined List”.

*5 minutes or less - Loss of toss plus 1 game
*5:01 - 10 Minutes late - Loss of toss plus 2 games
*10:01 - 15 Minutes late - Loss of toss plus 3 games
*More than 15 minutes late - Default from match
Time Rules Reminders: Time between points, a maximum of twenty-five (25) Seconds is allowed. When the players change ends at the end of a game, a maximum of ninety (90) seconds are allowed. At the end of each set there shall be a set break of a maximum of one hundred and twenty (120) seconds. The warm up shall be a maximum of five (5) minutes.

Arrive: TWENTY (20) MINUTES BEFORE ALL MATCH TIMES, CHECK IN with referee on site and be ready to play if court is available.
What if it rains or it is wet when we wake up?
PLEASE, check THIS website for updates in the morning BEFORE you leave for Gastonia. We will check the courts, if necessary, between 5:30 and 6:30 am. If we need to go on a "RAIN DELAY" it will be posted here as soon as decision is made.
What is a rain delay? How does that affect me?
A "Rain Delay" ( Before matches start) is our best estimate of when the wet courts will be dry enough to play on. If there is a TWO HOUR DELAY, you would add two hours to your original Match Time. 8:00 am start would begin at 10:00 am.
B. "Rain Delay" ( AFTER MATCHES have started) you would report on the score text Match Tennis Application - a weather delay, then report back to the site in the time given to you by Site Referee and/or VTD (Virtual Tournament Desk Application).
Scoring will change if a delay in matches’ occurs.
