Welcome to Ridgeland!!
We're excited to host this year's players, coaches and families for "Ridgeland Tourism's BG 16s National L4 Closed" taking place March 14th-16th. Ridgeland Tourism has supported and played a critical role in hosting all of our National events and we're confident you'll find everything you need within five minutes of RTC. The Renaissance(Outdoor Shopping and dining) and Township areas are both within 3 miles of RTC and provide hotels, shopping and Restaurants that should make the weekend relatively stress free off the court. Please visit the Ridgeland tourism website for information on restaurants, hotels and local attractions in the Ridgeland area. Please take a look at the area hotels(list below) that have offered discounted rates to all participants and their families. The AC HOTEL is the tournament hotel and is offering a $160 a night rate, but you must book by March 2nd or until the rooms are gone. Links for both options are listed below. If you have questions, concerns or need anything during the event you're welcome to reach me directly(check this webpage for answers to most of your questions first!). 1. DRAW, SCORING FORMATS, DRAW PUBLICATION, EARLIEST MATCH START TIMES
Singles format - Boys and Girls singles divisions will accept up to 64 players. Those players will be seperated into flights(Up to four 16 player draws)based on their national standing as of March th. Scoring will be best of 3 tiebreak sets with a 10-Point Match Tiebreaker in lieu of the 3rd set. Singles draws will Feed in through the Quarters of Consolation and there will be a 3/4 playoff.
Doubles format - Boys and Girls doubles divisions will accept up to 32 teams. Doubles draws will be Single Elimination, 8-game pro-sets with AD scoring. (7-point tiebreak, win by two at 8-8). Draw publication - Singles and doubles draws will be posted on Thursday, March 12th at 3:00 p.m CST

Doubles- 1st round doubles matches will start on Saturday not before 8:00 a.m.
Singles- 1st round singles matches will start on Saturday not before 9:00 a.m.
No draw is full yet. Selection is by ranking list, so a junior with no ranking can still get in when a draw is not full, and goes on the alternate list when it is.
What is a Level 4?
USTA junior tournaments run from Level 7 (local, open to anyone) up to Level 1 (national). Lower number, stronger field, more points.
When do we know?
Selections post after entries close (Thu, Mar 4, 4:59pm CST). Draws usually post the week of the tournament. Text Coach Ace and we will tell you the moment either one lands.

7. SCHEDULE OF PLAY
Saturday -One round of doubles to start the day, 2 singles matches(unless you have a bye), Second Round of doubles
Sunday- 2 rounds of singles and doubles(Main Draw Singles finished if weather isn't an issue)
Monday- Finish consolation singles finals and doubles final and 3/4 playoff if needed
8. PRACTICE COURTS
2 practice courts will be available for match warm-ups at RTC throughout the weekend (after matches begin on Saturday!) . These courts(courts 13 and 14) can be reserved in 30 minute increments by texting Justyn at 843-422-4450. On site practice courts will be 4 players per court if needed. Friday -Courts at RTC and PB will be available on a first come first serve basis! Pro shops will close at 6:00 p.m(Take any rackets that need to be strung on Friday to PB by 6:00), but the RTC courts will be available until 8:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday - All courts at RTC and PB will be available prior to matches starting at 8:00 a.m.(courts cleared at 7:50). After matches have begun, there will be 2 courts available for match warm-ups at RTC. These courts can be reserved in 30 minute increments by texting Justyn at 843-422-4450. These 2 practice courts will be 4 players per court if needed. If you have questions, contact me at justynschelver@hotmail.com
2 Courts at Whisper Lake Country Club (414 Annandale Parkway, Madison, MS 39110) will be available throughout the tournament. Courts are first come/first serve and we just ask that you split courts(if needed) and or be accomodating to other tournament participants (Ex:Don't use a court for 2 hours if there are others looking to get a warm up in).
9. Pre Match Warm Ups/ Hitting Sessions
Joan Soler(USPTA/PTR) will be available for hitting lessons and pre match warm ups. Cost is $40 for a half hour or $80 for an hour. Please contact JOAN at 405-508-4363 to set up a session!
10. STRINGING
Stringing will be available at PB and RTC during the tournament and cost is $20 for labor plus string cost if applicable.
11. HOTEL INFORMATION
HOST HOTEL-AC Hotels by Marriott
Mississippi's first "AC Hotels by Marriott" is located in "The Township" area of Ridgeland and will serve as the official tournament hotel for every National event in the area going forward. There are 2 food and beverage outlets in the hotel and you will be in walking distance to various restaurants and shopping options. The property is 2 miles from RTC, practice courts, sites and just opened its doors in 2023! AC Hotels is an exclusive line of properties and I'd urge all players/families to book quickly(rooms may be limited) and keep in mind the Tournament rate will expire on March 2nd. 12. ALTERNATES/ On-Site ALTERNATES
Once entries close, there will be an ordered alternates list online for any division that had over 64 entrants. If you are on the alternates list and would like to be withdrawn from the tournament at any point, please email justynschelver@hotmail.com. If a "Selected player" withdraws and you are the "next player in" on the alternates list you will be moved into the draw once the TD processes the withdrawal.
If you have not moved into the draw by Friday, March 13, but plan to be "ON SITE" on Saturday in the event someone pulls last minute, please do the following:
a. Email jusynschelver@hotmail.com indicating you intend to be an On Site Alternate and include the best cell #'s to contact you if needed.
b. Look at first round match times for all flights in your age group. If a player gets sick or has travel issues we will contact you ASAP, but you'll need to be ready to play at the scheduled match time.
13. WITHDRAWAL POLICY
If you need to withdraw after the deadline, please email me at justynschelver@hotmail.com. Players can withdraw before the deadline by going to their Profile on USTA.com and under upcoming events clicking the manage button on this tournament. Please note that you must withdraw before online entries close to recieve a refund.
If your partner is already registered for the tournament, you can select them when you register for doubles. If you do not have a partner, please follow the instructions below:
1) If you are in singles, but don't have a doubles partner yet, PLEASE REGISTER ON MATCH APP!!! This is an extremely useful tool and is in place so that you don't have to send 15 emails trying to track down player information.
2) If you have a partner, but are not listed together on the tournament website , please email me at justynschelver@hotmail.com
3) You have until Tuesday, March 10th at 3:00 p.m to send me your partner's name. At that time(not before!!), I would look at the option of randomly pairing players who are entered, but don't have a partner.

17. Standards of Conduct
Players, persons who appear to be associated with a player (including, but not limited to, parents and coaches), officials, and organizers of any tournament are under a duty to encourage and maintain high standards of proper conduct, fair play, and good sportsmanship. They are under an obligation to avoid acts that may be considered detrimental to the game of tennis. Detrimental acts include, but are not limited to, the acts set forth in USTA Regulation IV.C (Standards of Conduct). Friend at Court

USTA Southern 2027 Doubles Format Change:
Starting in January 2027, USTA Southern L3 - L5 Tournaments will play no-ad scoring in Doubles.
SIGNING UP FOR TWO DIVISIONS:
Players may register for two age divisions in Level 3 Closed, Level 4 Open/Closed tournaments. Players that do register for both divisions will automatically be selected in the older division if they are selected for both. Players not selected to either division will remain on both alternate lists for both divisions but will need to play the division they first get into from the alternate lists. They will be removed from the Alternate list in the other division. Once a player is selected for any one division, NO CHANGES CAN BE MADE.
YOU MUST PLAY THE SAME AGE DIVISION FOR SINGLES AND DOUBLES:
Per STA rules for all National Level 3-5's, you must play the same doubles division as your chosen singles division.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL PLAYERS RE: CONCURRENT TOURNAMENTS
USTA Regulations state the following:
• Player shall not enter two tournaments at same time. When entries close, a player shall not be entered in two or more sanctioned tournaments, if any part of the tournaments overlap unless each Tournament Committee involved understands the situation and concurs in writing. After a player has been eliminated from a tournament whose schedule of play partially overlaps with that of a second tournament, the player may enter the second tournament.
(USTA REGULATIONS IV.C. (Standards of Conduct), 2025 Friend at Court, #s 12 through #17 apply).
Penalty: (4) Suspension points to player in violation per offense, enforced by either Tournament Committee, and/or USTA Administration.
SPORTSMANSHIP & THE USTA PLAYER OATH:
All participants shall familiarize themselves with The Code which is meant to be a guide to fair play. By participating in the tournament, all players agree to abide by the USTA Player Oath: "I recognize that tennis is a sport that places the responsibility for fair play on me. I promise to abide by the rules of the game, which require me to give the benefit of the doubt to my opponent. At all times I shall strive to compete with the true spirit of sportsmanship, recognizing that my behavior on the court is a direct reflection of my character. Whether my matches end with my victory or defeat, I promise to conduct myself in a way that honors my opponents, those who support me, and the game of tennis."
SAFE PLAY INFORMATION FOR PLAYERS & COACHES:
Please be advised that if you plan to bring your coach with you, he/she SHOULD be Safe Play Approved through the end of the Tournament. This includes completing SafeSport training, acknowledging the USTA Safe Play Policy which includes reporting requirements, and a criminal background check. You can check if your coach is Safe Play Approved by visiting: https://www.usta.com/en/home/safe-play/search-for-a-tennis-provider.html. If they are not Safe Play Approved, please ensure they complete the process ASAP by visiting www.usta.com/safeplay and selecting “Get Approved.” PLEASE NOTE: SAFESPORT TRAINING IS 90 MINUTES LONG AND FULL APPROVAL CAN TAKE UP TO 5 DAYS.
