DURING MATCH SUPPORT PERMITTED WITH SUBMITTED SUPPORT SQUAD FORM
Per USTA regulations, coaching is not permitted in tournaments for ranking other than specific team events. This event is not for ranking. We are piloting coaching/support parameters to assist players. See below for parameters and details:
• A player's designated coach is their ‘Support Squad’ (ie parent, guardian, coach, sibling, friend) who can provide encouragement or coaching on changeovers only. This assistance must take place in the 90 seconds permitted for changeovers.
• Support Squad person is not permitted on the court. All assistance needs to take place at the fence due to Safe Play guidelines.
• Support Squad person will not change line calls, score, or assist in the middle of games. Only a tournament court monitor can do that.
• Support Squad is one person designated and identified to the tournament desk staff before the matches start. Support Squad form which identifies this person must be submitted to the tournament in advance, after selection is made. This is due to USTA Safe Play requirements.

• Support Squad person is responsible for complying with the rules and parameters of coaching/communication.
GOALS
• Educate players on tactics of the game ‘while’ they are competing (similar to other youth sports).
• Support players through positive reinforcement &/or strategy assistance.
• Reinforce Sportsmanship at all times.
• Encourage youth to HAVE FUN while competing in a USTA Event!
RULES*:
Players have 90 seconds during a changeover (except during the first changeover of a set and a during a tiebreak) to sit down, drink, and get ready before going to the other side of the court to play... or for part of the 90 seconds, they may meet & speak with their Support Squad person at the back of the fence . Support Squad will not be inside the fences or on court.
SUPPORT SQUAD:
• May only speak to their player during this changeover period while remaining off the court. Failure to follow these rules will result in speaking privileges being revoked.
• Advice must be carried out in a manner that does not distract play on adjoining courts.
EVENT LEVEL: This event is for players with little to no tournament/match experience. Junior Circuit is a great event to start a player's play and competition journey. It is an opportunity to work on competition skills in a more learning environment. This is event is not for USTA ranking points.
FORMAT: The tournament is a compass draw or round robin, which means that every player will play 2-4 matches, whether they win or lose their matches. Players who are unable to commit to playing all day should not enter, since the draws require that all players remain in the draw. We will make every attempt to give players at least 2 matches, but we cannot guarantee this, since players may withdraw. Age divisions may need to be combined depending on entries. Ball colors will not be combined.

Questions parents ask
Will my junior get in?
No draw is full yet. Selection is by ranking list, so a junior with no ranking can still get in when a draw is not full, and goes on the alternate list when it is.
What is a Junior Circuit?
USTA junior tournaments run from Level 7 (local, open to anyone) up to Level 1 (national). Lower number, stronger field, more points.
When do we know?
Selections post after entries close (Sun, Sep 27, 2:59pm MST). Draws usually post the week of the tournament. Text Coach Ace and we will tell you the moment either one lands.
