“Southwest Section Dress Code”

Proper tennis attire shall be worn at all times. Clothing shall not include reference to gambling, tobacco products, alcohol, profanity, or violence. Rules of the host facility will govern any additional dress code requirements.

“Overrule Policy”

ONCE A PLAYER HAS BEEN OVERRULED A SECOND TIME, THEY WILL BE CAUTIONED THAT AFTER ANOTHER OVERRULE THEY WILL BE PENALIZED FOR UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT UNDER THE POINT PENALTY SYSTEM.

"Withdrawal Policy"

If a player withdraws or defaults (for reason other than illness or injury) from any sanctioned tournament in the Southwest Section (L3-L6), after entries close, that player will be assessed 4 suspension points unless medical documentation of the injury or illness is provided to the Tournament Director AND Southwest Section Junior Player Development Manager within 48 hours after the completion of the tournament.

In theory, the Junior Competition Committee feels that it is important to adopt and strongly enforce National’s ruling on the Suspension Point System. In recent years, several players have been pulling out of tournaments, especially L3-5 events, on the final day of competition or once a player is in the back draw.

The use of smartwatches or any electronic device that can receive electronic communication must be in off mode and in a bag unless on a break between the 2nd and 3rd set.

There will not be refunds issued once entries close for withdrawal from the tournament

Doubles: please make sure to register with your partner through the registration process or notify me no later than the registration deadline with confirmed partner info. If you register for doubles and do not have a partner, I will do my best to pair you up.

For L3-5 events

Selection: Players will be selected for draws based on a potential hybrid selection protocol using National Standings List (NSL) and rating.

Players will primarily be selected by the NSL

Rating will be used as a tool to determine any outliers if their rating is higher than 2 points stronger (high confidence only) than 50% of the draw

Seeding:Players seeded directly by WTN

*outliers must be rated and not projected

• Singles: Two tiebreak sets, 10 point match tiebreaker at one set all

• Doubles: 8 game pro-set with 7 point tiebreaker at 8 games all

Will my junior get in?

No draw is full yet. Selection is by ranking list, so a junior with no ranking can still get in when a draw is not full, and goes on the alternate list when it is.

What is a Level 4?

USTA junior tournaments run from Level 7 (local, open to anyone) up to Level 1 (national). Lower number, stronger field, more points.

When do we know?
