USTA Junior Circuit - 10U Orange and Green Ball Early Development Camp - Claremont

Campers are required to attend both days, which includes a USTA Sanctioned Tournament on the final day where players can earn playtracker points.

Orange ball: Must be 7-10 years old.

Green ball: Must be 7-10 years old. Players 7 and 8 years old that reach 1,000 play points in orange ball are eligible for green ball.

Orange ball competencies expected for attendance:

• Are able to sustain a 20 ball rally with coach at slow pace

• Are able to sustain a 10 ball rally with player of similar level

• Are working on FH and BH slice – with continental grip

• Have started using continental grip on volleys, overheads and serves

• Have started working on closed, open and semi-open stances to maintain contact points between hip and shoulder

Green ball competencies expected for attendance:

• Are able to sustain a 20 ball rally with coach at medium pace

• Are able to sustain a 10 ball rally with player of similar level at medium pace with contact points between hip and shoulder

• Are able to sustain a rally using slice off of both sides with the continental grip

• Using continental grip on volley, overheads and serves

• Have a fundamental understanding of footwork patterns for closed, open and semi-open stances and when to use them

We will be using the USTA National Curriculum ALL COURT PLAYER for the Orange Ball Camp and BECOMING AN OFFENSIVE PLAYER for the Green Ball Camp

The chosen themes for this camp are EFFORT (orange ball) and PLAY FAIR (green ball)

Air Quality Index Guidelines

USTA SoCal and all organizers of USTA SoCal sanctioned tournaments and sanctioned leagues, and other USTA SoCal sponsored events shall use www.airnow.gov as the standard for local AQI monitoring. USTA Junior Circuit events utilize a one-day non-elimination round-robin draw format for players of all ages to gain match-play experience in a tournament setting with a focus on individual results. This experience will encourage players of all ages to develop their skills through level-based play and demonstrate good sportsmanship.

SELECTION PROCESS

Will go by order of registration time. THE CAMP IS CAPPED AT 16 PLAYERS SO THE FIRST 16 PLAYERS BY REGISTRATION DATE WILL BE SELECTED FOR THE CAMP.

SPORTSMANSHIP CODE OF CONDUCT

Players, persons who appear to be associated with a player (including, but not limited to, parents and coaches), officials, and organizers of any tournament are under a duty to encourage and maintain high standards of proper conduct, fair play, and good sportsmanship. They are under an obligation to avoid acts that may be considered detrimental to the game of tennis. Detrimental acts include, but are not limited to, the acts set forth in USTA Regulation IV.C (Standards of Conduct). Friend at Court

Default No-Show Policy: Players are expected to play all matches including main draw and consolation. It is mandatory to notify the tournament director in written communication (via email) that a player needs to withdraw. Failure to notify the Tournament Director via email will receive a “Default No-Show” and 5 suspension points per the USTA Suspension Point System (USTA Regulations IV.F.)

USTA REFUND POLICY: No refund is required beginning six days before the start date of the tournament. The fee for electronic entries is not a considered a part of the entry fee and is non-refundable.

DRESS CODE POLICY

The USTA So Cal Junior Sectionals Tournament and all officials of this event would like to inform the players of our expectations of proper attire while particpating in the camp and tournament:

ALL PLAYERS: Proper tennis attire is mandatory at all times. No cut off t-shirts or cut off shorts. Sleeveless tennis shirts may be worn. Clothing shall not include reference to gambling, tobacco products, alcohol, profanity, or violence.
